Websites with malicious content are store in a hosts file, which enables the operating system to block these sites. With DNSAgent, you can add more rules and manage domain access on your computer. The application is quite simple in its design, but it is also flexible when it comes to making configurations. What's more, DNSAgent doesn't require too much user input. You can focus on your important task and let the application manage the domain access for you.

DNSAgent is absolutely free and it can be used on any modern Windows platform. The application's components come in a ZIP archive, so you don't have to go through an installation process. Extracting its files and running an executable is all you have to do.

The application doesn't come with a user interface of its own. When launched, it will display a series of messages using the system's command prompt. You can just run the application and let it block potentially malicious websites from the background. Alternatively, you can run a different executable to install a service. This way, you will be protected at all times and you won't need to run the application more than once. Of course, you can also find an executable for uninstalling the service, should the need arise.

DNSAgent has a certain set of rules and default configurations, which can be changed by editing two CFG files. Although it would be easier to do this on a user interface, typing new rules or editing existing ones shouldn't prove to be too challenging. What's more, this method grants you numerous possibilities, like using specific protocols, redirecting traffic to a custom server, returning A/AAA records and much more.

DNSAgent gives you a much better control over your incoming and outgoing network traffic.

Pros

You only need to run the application to apply its rules. Its rules and configurations can be changed in a flexible manner. DNSAgent can be launched as a normal application or installed as a service.

Cons

The lack of a user interface can make things a bit difficult for inexperienced users.
